It’s a long way to reach the heavenly Shaab Satayah; the boat will depart from Hamata, a small port located about 100 km (2-hours transfer) south of Marsa Alam, and will be sailing for around 2 hours to reach this huge (5 km) offshore reef.
Satayah is horseshoe shaped reef, creating a huge natural lagoon, home to a large group of spinner dolphins. It is often possible to swim or dive with a pod of (sometimes dozens!) of these intelligent and fascinating creatures, making it a truly unforgettable experience!
In addition, due to its size, Satayah offers a variety of different dive profiles: steep drop-offs, pinnacles adorned with corals, plateaus…and the reefs are breathtaking! The outer wall offers some excellent drift diving. Other than the dolphins, big pelagic species can be seen here such as sharks, trevallies, barracudas, rays, tuna and napoleon. In winter, you may be lucky enough to meet a whale shark.
The spot generally has good and easy conditions. However, be aware that it can get quite crowded as it is one of the most popular dive and snorkeling sites in the area.
