“Salmaan’s throat” – a crack in the fringing reef that doesn’t reach the shore – is a site that is relatively undived. This v-shaped inlet with a deep (36m) sandy bottom is flanked by hard coral reef walls North and South, littered with caves, overhangs and boulders. Lots of scorpion fish and pretty corals are visible at shallower depths.
The South reef is best dived in calm weather; the North reef is more sheltered.
We usually dive this site as a second dive after exploring nearby Marsa Mubarak.
