Sanitary measures in Egypt
A special Covid health protocol has been put in place for hotels and all tourist operators (distancing measures, disinfection of facilities, etc.). This takes place under the control of the Ministry of Tourism and is generally well respected.
The wearing of face masks is mandatory in closed public spaces, including government buildings, private offices, malls, retail outlets and public transport including private taxis. Not compulsory at the hotel.
A vaccination campaign was launched in mid-February 2021. According to Egyptian authorities, around 36% of the total population is fully vaccinated to date. All tourism workers in the Red Sea and South Sinai governorates have received at least two doses of vaccine.
With the exception of large gatherings which are still prohibited, everything is now functioning normally in Egypt.
