This large (1,4 km long and 1 km wide) offshore crescent-shaped reef forms a natural shallow internal lagoon where pods of spinner dolphins come to rest and play during the day. It is often possible to swim with these intelligent and fascinating creatures, making it a truly unforgettable experience!

Shaab Samadai is a protected marine park, whose access is regulated:

– Dedicated zones have been created in the reef: a clear no-entry zone corresponding with the inner lagoon, called Zone A, was established to provide a sanctuary to the dolphins. Zone B is designed for swimmers and snorkelers, where transit of speedboats is prohibited. Mooring, diving and other activities can take place in Zone C. Therefore, it is much more likely to approach the dolphins while snorkeling than diving.

– It is compulsory for all snorkelers to wear a life jacket, whether they can swim or no.
